2 year debut’s – 11th June

We had a couple of really nice 2 year olds making their debut’s yesterday in the shape of the Karl Burke trained Miss Milby and the Michael Bell trained Tenth Century.

Miss Milby was 1st up running at Beverley, Clifford Lee was aboard for her racecourse debut. She had a terrible draw in stall 10, in the early stages of the race she had to settle at the rear of the main field. The three horses at the head of affairs broke away from the rest of the field and Cliff started to get Miss Milby rolling. They made headway passing horses on her inside. Just over a furlong out the leaders started to tire and Miss Milby came to through with the favourite at the head of affairs. Inside the final furlong it was nip and tuck but as the favourite drifted across taking Miss Milby further towards the nearside it edged ahead and although Miss Milby kept going to the line but she had to settle for second place, beaten a neck. A cracking debut for her owners.

Tenth Century was up next at Lingfield with Kieran Shoemark taking the ride. He is a very recent addition to the Ontoawinner string. He was well away from the stalls and led in the early stages of the contest. He and the favourite had a bit of a battle for the early lead. He took the turn for home very well and found himself a length in front. Into the home straight TC edged ahead and looked to have that rival covered when he just started to get tired and drifted off the rail which then allowed the horse with experience who had stalked the pair to come with a run up TC’s inside. TC was headed with fifty yards to spare and although he kept going to the line, he had to settle for second place, beaten just half a length. A great debut and all being ok, he how heads to Royal Ascot. We have limited shares available – www.ontoawinner.net/syndicate/tenth-century
