Eastern Seel @ Carlisle

The going was described as Soft and it was very windy and hard going for the horses up the home straight.

Eastern Seel looked well and Keith the Assistant Trainer stated that the horse had worked in blinkers last time he had worked and this seemed to wake him up and worked better.

Duran Fentiman was told to do his best and not give him too hard a time again with the future in mind.

Eastern Seel broke and was settled on the outside of the field in 6th place and was a little keen early on . As the horse reached the dip before the long climb home Duran had to push along before the horse came back on the bridle. The field then started the long uphill climb and Duran gave the horse a couple of cracks with the whip and the horse responded and tried to close the gap between himself and the leaders. The front two in the market began to stretch clear of the field and once inside the final furlong Duran pushed the horse out hands and heels finishing in 6th place beaten 13 lengths not give an overly hard time.

Duran reported that the horse still felt green and gave him the feel it was only his second run and was still learning all the time. Duran agreed that he thought he would improve with a set of blinkers and that a race over a mile with the blinkers applied would see further improvement. The other option was to put him away now he had the three runs and get a decent handicap mark to go to war with next year.
