Eutropius Wins At Pontefract

OnToAWinner send 3 runners to Pontefract  – Wednesday 1st May

Gold Show ran in the apprentice race over 10 furlongs at Pontefract, she was well supported in the market, sent off the 7/4 fav. She broke out well and travelled nicely throughout. The front 2 horses seemed to go off too quickly and Gold Show just tracked them. When push came to shove turning for home our filly didn’t seem to find a lot and never picked up in the final furlong. Jacob reported that she travelled ever so well but when he asked her to get serious she didn’t respond. Last time out when she won the ground was good to soft so she may just need to get her toe in.

Blue Maisey & Eutropius lined up in the class 5 handicap over 1 mile. Blue Maisey broke slowly and was always sat at the back off the pack. She never really got into the race and Paul looked after her from 2 out as she was never going to trouble the leaders. Her day will come soon I sure we can put a line through this run and come back to fight another day.

Eutropius broke smartly and Robert Winston let our lad sit in just off the front 2, turning for home he began to ask questions and Eutropius responded, coming upsides the leading pair. Robert asked him to go on again and went into a lead, taking it up a furlong out and going on to win by 1 and a quarter lengths. Robert reported that he was a nice type who was still a little bit green which should be expected as this was only his 3rd run. He is entered to run at Hamilton on Sunday which we may just come a bit too soon after today’s run. Well we certainly had to wait a long time to get this lad racing but there’s no hanging around now with this being his second win this season from 2 runs.
