Mitchells Way At Carlisle

Mitchells Way ran in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle yesterday at Carlisle. This was his 1st run in a handicap for OnToAWinner. Fearghal Davis was on board for the Alan Swinbank trained 5 year old.

Mitchells Way had opened up at 16-1 on the Saturday night and backed into 8-1 and returned 8-1 on the day. Howe haver, there was good word on course for the Brian Ellison trained Hada Men who went off the 7/2 favourite.

Simonside, the other Ellison horse made the running in a strongly run race. Mitchells Way was held up in mid division and jumped well and travelled strongly throughout.

At the 4f mark, the favourite came through to lead and looked to be travelling supremely well. Fearghal got to work on Mitchells Way and he responded well by pinging the 3rd last fence to move into 4th position

At this stage, the well handicapped leader began to stretch clear and the race was on for the minors with Mitchells Way jumping into 2nd at the final fence and staying on gamely to finish second to ensure his owners had a good day out.

Fearghal was happy with Mitchells Way and said he has improved with every run and will make a decent staying chaser in time. We have a few options with Mitchells Way, possibly stepping up in further distance over hurdles before the season is out.

It was great to see so many of our owners at the race and we look forward to more good days out with Mitchells Way
