National Hunt Season Preview Part 1
As the end of the flat season gallops towards us , attention now switches to our National Hunt & All Weather horses who will be campaigned throughout the winter months. We will be blogging previews of the national hunt season for each of our trainers. We will give you updates on all of our horses, we will let you know how they have enjoyed their breaks , our trainers thoughts and hopefully point you in the direction of a winner or two. OnToAWinner head into the season with a few new faces and a vastly improved jumping string, we are looking forward to adding to our current tally of 14 winners for the year. Part 1 of our preview focuses on Mitchells Way who is trained by Alan Swinbank.
Alan Swinbank has been involved in racing for many, many years. He is one of the finest judges of a horse you could ever be involved with. He is legendary for his ability to ready a winner, and ensure the bookmakers pay for the preparation! His handling of Collier Hill to win the Irish St.Leger, Hong Kong Vase and The Canadian International at Woodbine was an extraordinary achievement, amassing over £2m in prizemoney. Alan’s facilities at his Richmond base are superb and horses and owners are very well looked after.
Mitchells Way: He is a lovely big 6 year old gelding, who has run 16 times to date, winning 2 and has been placed on 6 occasions – 4 of which were 2nd places. He’s another nice type, looks the way a National Hunt horse should. He won his penultimate race and finished an unlucky 2nd last day out, He started off 2013 with a rating of 111 and has already gone up to 123.
He really improved and impressed us earlier this year.
He will be campaigned in handicap and novice hurdles but has also schooled very well over fences, there are plenty of exciting options for him this year . Alan is very confident that this fella will win his share of races in the season ahead.
All being well; he will start off his season at Wetherby on Charlie Hall day and will no doubt pay a few visits to Carlisle where he has won 2 and placed on 2 occasions.
We had a visit to Alan Swinbanks yard to look at Mitchells Way & Eutropius recently. He looks really well!
