Open Day & More
Fazza was scuppered by the high draw at Ripon on Saturday. There was plenty of pace right from the gates so Tom Eaves had a difficult task to get a prominant position. It became a stiff ask turning for home, but once Fazza got a run he stayed on strongly to finish 8th. He didn’t have a hard race as a result of the traffic problems in running so expect to see Fazza going close soon. He’s come out of the race well.
We’re waiting to see what the handicapper does to Ailsa Craig before deciding on her next run. She’s a star and has significant paddock value now so everything from here on in is a huge bonus, literally!
Fast Shot is in good nick. Tim loves this chap. There’s a race for him at the end of the month over 7f, so get your pocket money ready! There are a few shares left in Fast Shot so if your current horse isn’t rated 77 and going in the right direction, do yourself a huge favour and climb on board the gravy train! Is there a more consistent horse on the market for this price that will run at York, Doncaster, Haydock, Newmarket? What would we get at the horses in training sale for him to go abroad………?!
Boss’s Destination looked a picture on the gallops this morning. He may go to York for ladies day or may run at Chester this weekend. Alan offered his owners the use of his box at Chester, you get looked after properly at Ontoawinner! Alan is a great guy to be around. He has some cracking stories, and needs to write a book……..what a howl!
The Ad Valorem 2-y-0 has been named Eutropius, a strong name for a nice horse. He looked well this morning too, and isn’t far off a run. He may debut over 7f, but is a 2-y-0 in Alan’s view, so thats good enough for us.
Alan also showed the owners several potentially nice bumper horses for anyone interested in quality NH horses, that may be an investment.
It was a good week with a winner on ladies day at Beverley and several new owners having a great day at Ripon on Saturday. They’ll all be in the winners enclosure with us soon judging by recent results. We’ve had 4 winners and 9 places from our first 7 runners (8 weeks). Even Alan Swinbank commented that we were buying the right horses. This is the man who bought Collier Hill for less than six grand and won £2.5million…………..one of the biggest racing stories of all time.
If I had a hat Mr Swinbank, I’d take it off to you! Thanks for this morning. If there’s a nicer yard in the country, I haven’t seen it yet.
