Parnassian Wins at Carlisle

The Karl Buke trained Parnassian was making only his second start today when he lined up in the  ApolloBet Median Auction Stakes at Carlisle where Clifford Lee who claims 7lb took the mount.

In his only previous racecourse outing, this son of Elzaam ran out an impressive winner when he scored by 4 lengths on the all-weather at Newcastle.

9 horses were declared for today’s race with our colt sent off the well supported 7/4 favourite.

Drawn in stall 1, he broke smartly from the stalls and was in a share of the lead heading into the bend.

Entering the straight, The Richard Fahey trained Navarone went into the lead with our lad tracking him. Just shy of the 2 marker, Clifford joined the leader , gave Parnassian a squeeze and he went clear by a couple of lengths. Clifford kept up the momentum and went on to score a shade cosily, a nice performance from both horse and jockey.

There are options in both Ireland and England for Parnassian. We will see how he comes out of the race and firm up plans in the coming weeks.
