Report on Fast Shot at Catterick
Report By Chris
Heavy overnight rain had changed the ground to soft and after the first two races it was obvious it was hard work for the horses getting home in the testing conditions and the field in the second race came to the stands side rail
which is usual in races at Catterick when the ground is on the soft side.
Fast Shot looked well in his coat and David Allan stated he would come to the stand side even if he was the only one to do so but expected everyone to do the same .He would try and get a prominent position so that when they came across the course he wouldn’t be too far behind. Fast Shot was priced up at 9-1 at the off.
David jumped out well and was in the front rank although still trapped out wide. As they turned into the straight although covering more ground than the horses on the inside of him Fast Shot held his position and grabbed the near side rail. It was clear that the front three horses now had the race between them as nothing was coming from behind. At the furlong pole Fast Shot had a narrow lead howe haver with half a furlong to go the other two horses just went in front and crossing the line Fast Shot finished a gallant third.
On reviewing the race David stated Fast Shot just got a bit tired inside the final furlong but had ran a good race having to travel much further than the two horses that had finished in front of him.
Another fantastic race from a most consistent horse and with a better draw I am convinced he would of won. There is plenty to look forward to for next season and he can win off his current mark and run at the big meetings. Happy Days.
