Sphinx At Haydock

Sphinx ran in the 3m 0-135 3m hurdle race yesterday at Haydock. Being rated 115 over the timber , this was always going to be a tough task for the old boy . The Edwin Tuer trained 14 year old had conditions to suit and young 7 lb claimer Callum Whillans took the ride.

Sphinx travelled well in mid division for the most part and started to ease pass rivals 4 fences out to join the front runners. Callum had to get serious 3 fences out and the old boy didn’t find enough to go with the leaders. He finished mid division with the well fancied McCain runner – Reindeer Dippin (rated 133) winning with ease.

It was a great day out and Sphinx showed there is life in the old boy yet. He will be winning races this year and will give his owners plenty of good days out. Thanks again to Edwin and all the owners who braved the weather. We look forward to next time….
