Description
We are delighted to welcome George Boughey to the Ontoawinner team for the 2021 season.
We bought a smashing filly by Galileo Gold at the Tattersalls Ascot yearling sale. This is our first venture with George and we are excited by the partnership.
The sire who stands at Tally Ho was a winner of the Group 1 2000 Guineas, he is from the immediate family of Gr.1 winners Montjeu (Champion, Champion Sire), Again (GR.1-1000 Guineas, Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and Acclaim (GR.1 Prix de la Foret, GR.1 Challenge Stakes). As a two-year-old, he won the Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood before finishing third in the Group 1 Prix Jean Luc Lagadere. At three he showcased is classic potential to the racing world by winning the Group 1 2,000 Guineas and the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. He was a gallant second in the Group 1 Irish 2,000 Guineas and the Group 1 Sussex Stakes achieving a Timeform rating of 126.
The dam – Wee Jean was a fantastic horse and achieved a rating of 105 during a stellar career in which she was placed twice at listed level, was 5th in the Group 1 Matron Stakes and earned prize money just shy of 100k.
This filly is a really nice horse for the money and we are delighted to secure her.
George on the Galileo Gold filly: “It was nice to secure her and we thought we might have to dig a bit deeper with her being out of a black type mare. She could be a bargain.”
