Description

Shallow Hal is a lovely horse by Mayson, a sire we have had great success with. Shallow Hal won a very valuable nursery as a two year old at the Ayr Gold Cup festival and won a Novice race shortly after at Pontefract in 2018. As a 3 year old he ran a cracking race in the Class 2 Paver Memorial race at York when only beaten 4 3/4 lengths in what was a hot renewal.

Key Notes

  • Good two year old when physically immature, including winning a very valuable nursery at the prestigious Ayr Gold Cup Festival.
  • He’s had a wind operation.
  • He grown and matured into a strong horse now.
  • He’s working well in preparation for 2020.
  • We learned a lot about him last year, we know what he likes so we can aim and plan around what he likes.
  • He’ll be aimed at the Ayr Gold Cup festival, likely in the Bronze Cup, where he should get his soft ground and will he running at all the right tracks throughout the year.

We asked Karl Burke about Shallow Hal for upcoming 2021 season:

“He won a very nice nursery at the Ayr Gold Cup Festival as a 2 year old and I really fancied him to be a proper Saturday horse as a 3 year old as he looked immature as a 2 year old despite his quality form. We’ve learned a lot about him in the last year so I think this horse will show his true potential in the coming year, he’s grown and matured and I think we’ll have a lot of fun in 2020 with this horse”
