Nice and Dandy at Newcastle

The Ollie Pears trained Dandy Highwayman headed to Newcastle on Thursday evening to run in the 6-furlong Handicap. He was drawn in stall 9 and Harry Russell rode.

Dandy broke smartly from the stalls and travelled nicely for the first 4 furlongs just off the front running Camanche Grey. At the 2-furlong pole, Harry gave Dandy a kick in the belly and Dandy picked up immediately and quickly put a length between him and the closing pack. In the final 200 yards, the hot 9/4 favourite Ken’s Sam’s came upside Dandy, but Dandy put his head down and battled all the way to the line to win by a head.

On returning to the winner’s enclosure Harry was clearly delighted and reported that Dandy had loved the race and travelled superbly well and that he was tough and so genuine. Ollie was also delighted and felt he had started to see Dandy returning to his previous best and was gaining confidence with each run.

We are delighted with Dandy Highwayman as he looks to be a lot happier now and looks to be improving. We do have some limited shares remaining in this winning horse. http://www.ontoawinner.net/syndic…/dandy-man-x-paradise-blue
